Modern Cinderella. Like we all got used to the spring/summer 2013 collections, the modern – more commercial side of Valentino SS 2013 popped up in a very feminine, ladylike manner.
The breathtaking collection was an oasis of sophistication and versatility. Beside the silhouettes, romantic looks and delicate textures, the two designers, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli surprised with an accent of sensuality – leather dresses, see through plastic trenchcoats with crystal seams and studded leather bags became the stars of the collection.
The palette was not as dark as it was in other collections. It respected the delicate Valentino chromatic scale of nude, red and navy, the precious fabrics, the slipdresses lines and the lace layers we absolutely adore.
Nothing less than amazing, the ready-to-wear collection emphasised the femininity, grace and the youthful spirit of the woman, showing different looks a woman could have during the day: white jackets for work, long dresses for cocktails and lace gowns for red-carpet events.
