The creation of beauty is art

If you didn’t visit yet the Galateca Gallery, now you have a very good reason to do it. The exhibition “Maiastra – the untold story of the peasant blouse’ brings in the spotlight th epeasant blouse as an identity symbol and art. Held from June 20 to August 25 the exhibition will present the fascinating stories, legends and traditions. It includes many events as the celebration of Sanziene which took place on June 23rd.

The exhibition  presents a selection of peasant blouses from patrimony as art installation along with the famous photos from archive of His Royal Highness, Queen Marie of Romania in Romanian traditional garb, a series of 200 interwar photographs from the collection of Britain’s Beryl de Zoete.
Silviu Oravitzan artworks exhibited for the first time at Galateca will complete the beautiful exhibition.
For this project Galateca is also collaborating with London Horniman Museum, National Museum of the Romanian Peasant in Bucharest, Astra Museum Complex in Sibiu, Suceava Bucovina Museum and the Cultural Foundation of Mircea Dinescu.
