1. YVES SAINT LAURENT
A look at the life of French designer Yves Saint Laurent, the story is about the evolution of an icon, about history, love experiences and breathtaking dresses and creations. Don’t expect to see only the glam of the fashion world but to be part of a real story.
2. DIANA VREELAND – THE EYE HAS TO TRAVEL
Called the Empress of Fashion, Diana, the fashion editor of Harper’s Bazaar is overexposed in this movie. You will find details about her relationship with her mother and husband, with Twiggy and Jackie Onassis and anything you can imagine about her vibrant life. The documentary is a portrait and a celebration of one of the most influential women oof the 20 century.
We cannot say we are the biggest fans of Anna Wintour, but still we cannot deny her role in this big fashion family. The September Issue is a funny and cool look at the editor-in-chief of Vogue and at her team. This documentary takes you behind the scenes so you could understand easily the work behind every photo shoot, fashion week, show or collection. It’s a must see!
If you don’t know much about street style, this is a movie you really have to see. “We all get dressed for Bill,” says Anna Wintour. Bill is the legendary street-fashion photographer and society chronicler for The New York Times who still keeps doing his job. A wonderful man with a kind glance and a professional.
5. ABOUT FACE: SUPERMODELS THEN&NOW
About Face explores beauty, aging and life stories of supemodels between fifty and eighty years old. The movie features interviews with some of the most celebrated visages of the 20th century. Through conversations with supermodels, including Carol Alt, Marisa Berenson, Karen Bjornson, Christie Brinkley, Pat Cleveland, Carmen Dell’Orefice, Jerry Hall, Bethann Hardison, Beverly Johnson, China Machado, Paulina Porizkova, Isabella Rossellini, Lisa Taylor and Cheryl Tiegs, the documentary reveals the roles they played in defining – and redefining – beauty over time.
Dior and I brings you inside the storied world of the Christian Dior fashion house with a privileged, behind-the-scenes look at the creation of Raf Simons’ first haute couture collection as its new artistic director—a true labor of love created by a dedicated group of collaborators. Melding the everyday, pressure- filled components of fashion with mysterious echoes from the iconic brand’s past, the film is also a colorful homage to the seamstresses who serve Simons’ vision.
7. VALENTINO – THE LAST EMPEROR
An intimate exploration of the singular world of one of Italy’s most famous men, the documentary provides a first-time glimpse into Valentino’s world of glamour. Filmed over the course of two years, the crew shot over 250 hours of footage with exclusive, unprecedented access to Valentino and his longtime partner, Giancarlo Giammetti. The resulting non-fiction film is a portrait of an extraordinary partnership – the longest running in fashion – and is a story about a master confronting the final act of his celebrated career.
8. KARL LAGERFELD CONFIDENTIAL
An up-close-and-personal portrait of the fashion icon, the movie is the result of three years of work, and over three hundred hours of footage. Rodolphe Marconi discloses the daily life of the star through his personal lens as a filmmaker. Don’t miss it!
If you need an energy boost, if you feel depressed after work, if you cannot fin yourself and you don’t know what you want from you and you’re job, you have Devil wears Prada. Watch it and we promise you that at the end of the movie you’ll feel much better! The movie is based on Lauren Weisberger’s book “The Devil Wears Prada,” and inspired by her experience as an assistant to Vogue editor Anna Wintour. S…t happens to all of us, the decisions you take are important in the end!
The movie that challenged us to read every biography and book about Coco Chanel – not quite a good thing because this totally changed our opinion regarding this empress of fashion. Based on the Chanel biography L’Irrégulière (The Nonconformist) by author Edmonde Charles-Roux, the movie is a must on this list.
