Ricardo Tisci left GIVENCHY

It`s not easy for an iconic brand to choose a Creative Director. He has to fold on the brand`s personality, to think through the eyes of  its history and to keep the essence, but always add something new,  personal, creative and out of the ordinary.
Riccardo Tisci is a powerful example of greatness in the fashion world. He is an Italian designer and until two days ago, was the Creative Director of the house of Givenchy. He came from a poor family and was raised by his mother and eight sisters. He says that his background is a big influence in his  creative work, especially in couture. He also calls his mother and his eight sisters  the biggest inspiration of his life. The fact that he grew up being  surrounded by 9 beautiful Italian womens who worked everyday, being strong worriors –as he calls them-  but at the same time all of them having the sense of style and beauty, have had a huge impact on his career.

His journey at Givenchy started in 2005, in his late 20`s, when he was appointed as the Creative Director of the haute couture, ready-to-wear and  accessories lines of Givenchy. From the first campaigns he seemed to be a perfect fit for the brand. He rebuilt the concept for a modern woman, with a new ironic approach to couture. He brought 12 years of successful collections with dramatic details of colors, tarnished stones, fur, embroidery, skins and prints, but also 12 years of  important collaborations with different brands and personalities, such as Nike, Rihanna for her Diamond World Tour, Beyonce and Jay-Z for  the On the Run Tour and Madonna for her Sticky & Sweet Tour. On February 2, 2017 Riccardo Tisci has stepped down from his position as Creative Director of Givenchy. Rumors have suggested he might be going back home to Italy and being headed to Versace.
